Calle Ferraz, 34-36 - 29002 Málaga (España)
Going all over the history of the Automobile, Haute Couture and contemporary art and understanding it in just 50 minutes is possible thanks to the Automobile Museum of Malaga. Located at the Old tobacco Factory, also known as “la Tabacalera”, the Museum is already part of the history of the city.
An innovative museum in constant renovation with two new exhibitions: “Apotheosis” and “Big Bang”.
From the 13th of March to the 28 of June, the temporal exhibition “Apotheosis” shows 13 unique fashion designs that meant a milestone thanks to their exceptional beauty, participation in events, fashion shows or for being decisive in their creator’s career. For example, a dress by Thierry Mugler that she leant to Diana Ross for several performances as the 1991 Annual Grammy Awards with Jon Bon Jovi; a hand painted Carven which participated at a fashion show at the Garnier Palace, the fashion museum in Paris or a Madame Gres dress from the 70’s, a great dame of the French fashion or incredible sketches turned into reality that have barely seen the public light.
“Big Bang” is the title for the dress-sculpture by the Galician designer Eva Soto inspired in the one that she made for the very Lady Gaga. “Pure mathematics” could be the best definition for this design in orange tones that defies gravity with impossible geometric forms sharply made with an impeccable technique. Surrounded by a TV-light bulb decoration, the piece represents the effect and media impact in modern global society that this kind of unique characters and attitudes achieve and who always triumph.
Visiting the Automobile Museum of Málaga is much more thanks to its 13 thematic galleries that gather a great variety of representative automotive models: Hispano Suiza, Bugatti, Delage, Packard, Auburn, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, and Mercedes y Ferrari, among others. Ostrich or crocodile leather, precious woods, Lalique mascot, nacre dashboard, ivory and silver handles.
Also, Maga Sublime Collection by Museo Automovilístico presents a great retrospective of fashion in the 20th century throughout its wide collection of creations by designers presented with luxury and exoticism and under the name of four exhibitions: “From Mariano Fortuny to Galliano“, “Trilogy“, “Cocktail in the Forest” and “From Balenciaga to Schiaparelli”.
